Catford information

The area

Approximately 8 miles from central London, Catford is n the southern edge of the Borough of Lewisham, bordering the Bromley Borough. It is a fast improving area and owes much of its vast Victorian stock of houses to one man, Archibald Corbett. He was a Scotsman who bought almost 300 acres of then virgin land to build thousands of new homes, laying out roads in a strict, grid like pattern.
Catford today has its own shopping centre and two mainline railway stations, providing excellent train links into central london. The area is looked at as representing great value for money.

Property types
The North of Catford is mainly made up of Victorian properties along roads such as Blythe Hill, Ravensbourne Road, Canadian Avenue and the Corbett estate. The Southern area of Bellingham becomes a little more denseley populated with more modern 1960's and 1970's housing stock. In the wide roads of Bellingham Estate you'll find 1930's semi-detached houses with large gardens - an area much sought after.
